About The Position

The TowneBank Compliance Advisory Risk Specialist plays a key risk management role (second line of defense), designed to provide administrative support to the Compliance Management System (CMS) in its responsibility to manage, maintain and report on the regulatory compliance risk assessment. Additionally, this role leads the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s regulatory compliance risk assessment along with supporting documentation, programs and systems.

Requirements

  • College Degree in business, finance or risk - or - equivalent industry certification.
  • Proven ability to effectively juggle multiple competing priorities, self-manage and complete assignments independently, on time and with high quality.
  • Aptitude and experience with configuring, managing and updating systems in compliance and workflow management programs that drive efficiency and reporting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and eye for detail.
  • Experience developing management reports that highlight compliance risk themes and trends.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and present risk information to small and large groups.
  • Excellent research skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in banking/financial services, preferably in one of the following disciplines: compliance risk, operational risk or enterprise risk.
  • Knowledgeable of product and service operations for various types of financial services, insurance, or investment organizations.
  • Experience using a Governance, Risk, and Compliance System.

Responsibilities

  • At management’s direction, execute Towne’s Compliance Risk Program and serve as primary administrator of the compliance risk assessment platform implementation and improvements.
  • At management’s direction, execute the Regulatory Compliance Risk Assessment including planning, scheduling, documenting and reporting on project status.
  • Coordinate with Regulatory Compliance and line of business (LOB) staff to assist in the assessment of compliance risk through applying the established risk assessment methodology across business lines, products, and processes. Document adequate support for subjective risk scoring.
  • Maintain the accuracy of regulatory risk statements and internal control inventories to accommodate regulatory and internal changes and reported assurance activity results.
  • Prepare and compile the information needed to prepare workflows, dashboards, and timely reporting on regulatory risks, control gaps, and emerging risks for use by senior management and governance committees.
  • Develop and manage strong working relationships with assigned Lines of Business counterparts and leadership.
  • Stay current on the regulatory environment, expectations, and risk trends through discussions with peers, seminars, webinars, roundtables, bankers’ associations, etc.
  • Meet continuing education expectations relevant to internal and external program requirements.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification. Obeys all applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
