About The Position

This role is responsible for the coordination of Continued Operational Safety (COS) and airworthiness non-compliance Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs) in cooperation with multiple engineering disciplines and the Gulfstream Compliance Assurance Office (CAO). The specialist will perform RCCA activity centered around Entry-into-Service (EIS) items reported from the fleet, engage in key technical issues and engineering process development for new/existing aircraft programs and R&D projects, and participate in customer forums, events, and management of associated action items. The position guides the successful completion of major engineering programs or conceives research in areas of considerable scope and complexity supporting the development and production of company products and services. The specialist will select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues and will be consulted extensively by associates and others as a recognized authority within the field. They will anticipate and resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities, approaching problem solving by balancing technical product, cost, and schedule. The role requires working without appreciable direction, with work reviewed from a long-range perspective for desired results, and exercising latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments. Decisions and recommendations made will be recognized as authoritative. The specialist will maintain a current knowledge of developments in their field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields to recommend innovations to improve quality and effectiveness of the company product. Additionally, they will maintain a current knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 certification requirements for aircraft interiors and the methodologies/processes for Continued Operational Safety (COS) and Airworthiness Standard Non-Compliance (AWSNC) reporting and status updating to the FAA. The position also involves performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Airworthiness Engineering, Aeronautics, or a related engineering field required.
  • Ten years of experience in the job offered or a related engineering position in the aerospace industry required.
  • Experience communicating in a technical and operations environment.
  • Experience with 14 CFR Part 25 certification requirements for aircraft interiors.
  • Experience with the methodologies/processes utilized for Continued Operational Safety (COS) and Airworthiness Standard Non-Compliance (AWSNC) reporting and status updating to the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Must have legal authority to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Airworthiness Engineering, Aeronautics, or a related engineering field and eight years of experience.
  • Ph.D. in Airworthiness Engineering, Aeronautics, or a related engineering field and six years of experience.
  • Advanced degree in engineering, or related curriculum preferred.
  • The level of technical skill and abilities appropriate for this grade will be established by each discipline.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
