About The Position

Bechtel is partnering with NextDecade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Job Summary:The Completions Field Engineer supports the execution and coordination of system completions and turnover activities across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation & controls (I&C). This role focuses on system readiness, test package execution, and cross-discipline coordination, ensuring systems are constructed, tested, and prepared for turnover in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, and schedule milestones. The position works closely with the Completions Superintendent, Construction, Quality, and Commissioning teams to drive efficient system completion and turnover. #LI-BH1

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy.
  • Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes.
  • Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
  • Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce.
  • Knowledge is normally acquired through: A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or Specialized courses in construction technology and management, and/or Prior practical work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and execution of system completions and turnover activities within assigned areas.
  • Assist in the development, review, and execution of test packages (including loop checks, pre-commissioning, and system testing).
  • Coordinate across disciplines (mechanical, piping, electrical, I&C) to ensure systems are ready for testing and turnover.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings (P&IDs, isometrics, electrical single lines, loop diagrams) to support field activities.
  • Track system status, punch items, and completion progress using completions systems and project databases.
  • Support system walkdowns, inspections, and punch listing to verify construction and testing readiness.
  • Interface with Construction Superintendents, Craft, and Subcontractors to support installation, testing, and issue resolution.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving technical and interface issues impacting system completion.
  • Support the preparation and closeout of turnover documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure all work complies with project safety requirements, quality standards, and applicable procedures.
  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to support testing and commissioning activities.
  • Contribute to reporting on completions progress and highlight risks or delays to leadership.
