Completions Engineer (Entry Level)

Fervo EnergyHouston, TX
Hybrid

About The Position

Fervo is seeking an entry-level Completions Engineer to support the technical design, planning, and execution of geothermal well completions, stimulations, and workover activities. This role is designed for new graduates or engineers with 0-2 years of experience and includes a structured training period in Houston, followed by field operations in Utah, and then a return to Houston. The position involves progressive responsibility across the full well lifecycle, working closely with various engineering teams. Success requires strong analytical skills, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to safe and disciplined field execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 0–2 years of experience in completions, well interventions, or a related field — new graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to work a 14/14 rotational schedule at remote field locations.
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, execution-heavy environments with shifting priorities.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and environmental compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co-op, or field exposure in completions, drilling, or workover operations.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic fracturing, well stimulation, and wellbore construction fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with stimulation or completion modeling software (e.g., ResFrac, Kinetix, or similar).
  • Coursework or exposure to risk assessment, hazard analysis, or Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Interest in geothermal energy and first-of-a-kind, technically complex well designs.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured training program covering completions engineering, stimulation design, and well intervention operations.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and mentors to learn company processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of completion and workover programs, detailed operational procedures, and post-job reports.
  • Build familiarity with stimulation and completion modeling software (e.g., ResFrac) and Fervo’s well data systems.
  • Support the Completions Supervisor and field leadership in daily completion, stimulation, and workover operations.
  • Monitor treating pressures, rates, volumes, and other operational parameters to help ensure safe and efficient execution.
  • Assist in the implementation of completion and intervention programs and verify adherence to procedures, regulatory requirements, and internal HSE standards.
  • Conduct on-site equipment and wellhead inspections and participate in safety meetings, pre-job briefings, and drills.
  • Collect and analyze completion and stimulation data to optimize operations and troubleshoot downhole and surface issues.
  • Maintain accurate records and daily reports on completion activities, materials consumption, and equipment performance.
  • Serve as an on-site technical resource and escalate completion- and intervention-related issues to the engineering team.
  • Apply field experience to support the planning and execution of completion, stimulation, and workover programs.
  • Analyze completion and well performance data and provide recommendations for design and procedural improvement.
  • Assist in the design and selection of completion equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Support the development of completion and workover cost estimates, from early scoping through AFE-level detail.
  • Compile technical and operational data required for permitting, regulatory filings, and internal approvals.
  • Partner with subsurface and reservoir engineering teams to help optimize completion architecture and stimulation designs.
  • Contribute to post-job reviews, lessons-learned capture, and continuous improvement initiatives across the completions organization.
