About The Position

Under general supervision, this role preps, scans, and validates all types of paper documents into an optical scanning system to obtain chart completion. The position involves scanning and validating all loose reports sent to the department. The Chart Completion Tech is responsible for analyzing medical records for deficiencies in chart documentation and for the release of information for continuity of care requests. This role ensures that HIPAA guidelines are followed to reduce the hospital’s potential liability in releasing records or protected health information. Additionally, the position is responsible for processing requests for government audits and specialized chart reviews (UVMC only), monitoring incomplete charts, and following up with physicians. The role also requires adherence to guidelines from JC, Conditions of Participation, and all federal and state regulations. Other duties as assigned and needed are also part of this role.

Requirements

• High School completion / GED
• Medical Terminology
• 1-3 years of job-related experience

• Basic analytical skills necessary in order to determine work priorities, assist in problem resolution and recommend methods of improving workflow.
