About The Position

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Compiler Toolchain Software Engineer to develop compiler and programming-tool capabilities that support efficient software execution on Qualcomm hardware. The role offers design autonomy and the opportunity to work with compiler technologies supporting application areas such as gaming, image processing, virtual and augmented reality, machine learning, and modem systems. Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance applications for mobile and compute products. The role applies software development, processor architecture, debugging, and systems knowledge to compiler-toolchain design and development. Work includes supporting tools and simulators, benchmarking applications, and applying mathematical and optimization techniques to improve performance and power efficiency. The position works under supervision and has decision-making responsibility within its direct area of work or work group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of combined academic and/or work experience with compilers or tools.

Responsibilities

  • Apply software development, processor architecture, debugging and recovery, and systems concepts to assist in enhancing application domains for mobile and compute products.
  • Incorporate features into programming tools to help developers implement, debug, and optimize code running on programmable cores.
  • Assist in designing and developing industry-standard tools such as debuggers, linkers, profilers, converters, and optimizers.
  • Assist in building bit-exact functional or timing-accurate simulators for off-target software execution.
  • Support synthesizing and running benchmarks for different applications.
  • Assist in designing compiler toolchains, such as LLVM, GCC, MLIR, Halide, and TVM, to compile code for hardware architectures.
  • Apply mathematical techniques for programming languages, algorithms, and optimization, and use data structures and heuristics to make compilation tractable and improve performance and power efficiency.
  • Assist in applying program Intermediate Representations to expose optimization opportunities.

Benefits
