About The Position

Are you passionate about basketball and making a positive impact on young athletes? Join our team at the Beaverton YMCA, one of the premier basketball facilities in Oregon, as a Competitive Basketball Coach for our Spring 2026 season. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about player development, team performance, and building confidence in young athletes through structured, high-level training and competition. This is a seasonal position with the potential to grow into a permanent part-time or full-time role.

Requirements

• Previous basketball playing and/or coaching experience preferred, with a minimum of varsity high school playing experience.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, systems, and game strategy
• Experience working with youth athletes in a competitive setting preferred
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within and outside of the Portland Metro are
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
• Must pass YMCA background check

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop youth athletes in a competitive basketball environment
• Teach advanced basketball fundamentals, game strategies, and performance skills
• Support athletes in achieving individual and team performance goals
• Foster a positive, disciplined, and team-oriented culture
• Build strong relationships with players and parents
• Physical ability to demonstrate skills and move actively on the court
• Arrive early to set up and prepare courts for training and games
• Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, families, and participants
• Attend required staff meetings
