About The Position

Datadog is building the Compensation function to scale with and support one of the fastest growing public companies in tech. We are looking for a creative, data-driven Compensation Specialist to join our team. If you are a problem solver with strong analytical prowess, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for data, this role is for you. As a Compensation Specialist, you will contribute to the development and implementation of our compensation approach. You will collaborate with team members to develop analytics tools, automate legacy processes, and help build the future of our compensation strategy. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative-focused major (e.g., Finance, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics)
  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience in business analytics, finance or a related field in a fast-growing environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (complex formulas, VBA, Power Query)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Unmatched attention to detail; ensuring numbers are accurate & delivered on time to key partners
  • High learning agility, flexibility, and quantitative problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Consulting, Project Management or Analytics experience
  • Experience building interactive / replicable dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or other advanced analytic platforms
  • Familiarity with Python, R, or SQL for data manipulation and automating repetitive workflows.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing scalable, repeatable processes backed by detailed ongoing documentation

Responsibilities

  • Evolve Compensation Strategy: Help us redefine and evolve how we believe about base, variable, and equity compensation structures
  • Advanced Analytics: Apply quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify problems, develop hypotheses, and recommend data-backed solutions for compensation programs and processes
  • Data Visualization & Modeling: Build and develop dynamic dashboards and analytic models to provide actionable business insights and interpret market or internal trends
  • Drive Automation: Streamline and automate monthly, quarterly, and annual compensation reporting and analysis using modern data tools and AI workflows
  • Market Benchmarking: Conduct global market benchmarking, assess peer groups, and ensure consistent market pricing practices while maintaining internal equity.
  • Storytelling with Data: Provide sophisticated compensation recommendations, clearly building data driven insights while tying it back to overall comp strategy
