About The Position

Located within the university’s central Human Resources division, the Staff Compensation department designs and administers all pay policies, programs, and practices for University Staff positions and serves all of campus in its variety of needs to attract, retain, and develop its staff workforce. This Compensation Partner position administers and manages comprehensive compensation programs, conducts compensation analyses, and fosters strong partnerships across campus. It also ensures competitive and equitable compensation practices, supports various compensation-related projects, and collaborates with campus units to align compensation strategies with institutional goals. This posting is for one Compensation Partner position, which will be either a standard Compensation Partner or a Senior Compensation Partner depending on the final candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications as determined by the hiring committee.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and three years of Human Resources experience or equivalent combination of experience/education.
  • Strong data analysis (combine multiple sets of data, advanced Excel skills, visualize and identify outliers and trends, statistical analysis, etc.)
  • Strong judgment, integrity, and confidentiality
  • Expertise in the application of FLSA and relevant case law
  • Ability to interact professionally with university department heads, vice presidents, and other campus leaders
  • Ability to coordinate personnel, materials, data, and other resources for special projects
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • High-level accuracy and detail orientation

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Human Resources or MBA and five years of Compensation experience.
  • CCP, SHRM-SCP, and/or SPHR, or equivalent
  • Superior data analysis
  • Experience with statistical and multiple regression analysis
  • Understanding of BYU’s compensation programs and familiarity with staff jobs on campus
  • Solid experience with managing compensation within Workday or other HRIS/ERP systems
  • Experience with salary surveys, both data submission and using results benchmark jobs
  • Experience with job evaluation systems
  • CCP, SHRM-SCP, and/or SPHR certifications

Responsibilities

  • Partner with assigned campus areas to provide comprehensive compensation guidance and approvals
  • Manage one or more compensation programs and/or functions
  • Conduct compensation-related data analysis
  • Lead compensation projects or functions
  • Operate independently under general supervision
  • Manage multiple complex compensation programs and/or functions
  • Conduct complex compensation-related data analysis
  • Lead large and complex compensation projects and/or functions
  • Provide subject matter expertise to HR, HR Business Partners, and campus leaders
  • Act as expert ambassador of Compensation to campus, including outreach and education
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision
