About The Position

At Preferred Care at Home of North Nashville, we are actively expanding our care team in Bellevue! We are seeking compassionate, reliable caregivers who want to make a real difference in the lives of seniors in our local community. We are seeking a reliable, warm, and attentive caregiver to provide dedicated in-home support for an elderly gentleman in Bellevue, TN. The ideal candidate enjoys engaging in friendly conversation, is comfortable with physical transfers, and can assist with personal care, light housekeeping, and daily routines. Requirements

Must be 21 years of age or older (due to insurance and client transportation requirements)
Hold a valid Driver's License
Pass a background check and drug screen.
1 year of caregiving experience required (both professional employment and personal family care count!).
Experience with gait belt transfers and mobility assistance is required.
Friendly, patient, and engaging demeanor.
Must be comfortable around dogs (1 friendly dog in the home).

Responsibilities

Assist client with transfers (bed to wheelchair, chair lift, etc.) using a gait belt at all times when standing. Client takes limited steps; safe transfer assistance is required. Remain by client's side for safety.
Assist with blood pressure checks and prepare the glucometer (insert test strip) for blood sugar testing (client pricks his own finger). Apply over-the-counter ointments as needed.
Assist with brief changes, personal cleaning as needed (house is equipped with bidets for assistance), bed preparation, and evening cleanup. (Note: Shower care is managed by a separate morning caregiver on Mondays and Thursdays.)
Empty catheter bag during shifts and refill the C-PAP machine reservoir with water for nighttime use.
Enjoy friendly chats and story-sharing with the client (he loves a warm morning routine with a cup of coffee in bed!).
Prepare warm breakfasts (e.g., scrambled eggs, French toast) and dinner, along with coffee.
Assist with prescribed physical therapy exercises, accompany client on walks (pushing the wheelchair), or spend time relaxing outside.
Make and change bed linens.
Clean the client’s bathroom.
Tidy kitchen after meal prep, vacuum, dust according to household preferences, perform laundry as needed, and take out trash.
