About The Position

FirstLight Home Care is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and patient caregiver to provide in-home support for an adult female client living with quadriplegia due to a spinal cord injury at the C6-C7 level. Our client is very independent, enjoys cooking for her family, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and staying engaged in her daily routines. We are looking for a caregiver who can provide hands-on assistance while encouraging and supporting her independence.

Requirements

• Comfortable assisting with catheter care and personal care tasks
• Dependable, compassionate, and patient
• Able to encourage independence while providing support when needed
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license required

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Spinal Cord Injuries Preferred
• Experience working with spinal cord injuries preferred
• Experience with quadriplegic clients is a plus
• Experience with slide board transfers preferred

Responsibilities

• Gather and prepare bathing supplies
• Assist with dressing and undressing from the waist down
• Provide shower assistance each shift
• Observe for safety during slide board transfers and assist as needed
• Assist with drying and redressing after bathing
• Change urine collection bags after showers
• Assist with flushing catheter tubing and changing catheter bags as needed
• Assist with light laundry
• Prepare meals and snacks
• Assist with chopping, dicing, and opening food packages and containers
• Wash dishes each shift
• Encourage hydration throughout the day
• Assist with watering outdoor plants
• Take garbage to the road on Tuesday evenings
• Accompany client on errands when needed
