About The Position

The Companion Care Aide position is part-time, Monday-Friday, 10 am - 2 pm. Duties are focused on providing companionship and assisting with various tasks within the Adult Day Care setting. This role requires maintaining registrant participation, assisting with activities, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the registrants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possesses verbal, writing, and reading skills necessary to perform duties associated with the position.
  • Possesses a genuine interest in registrants and co-workers as demonstrated by arriving on time at the start of shift and working when scheduled, including holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and busses tables in the main dining room after breakfast and after lunch.
  • Tidies up, empties trash, checks dates on any food in the refrigerator and disposes if applicable.
  • Sets up the dining room for meals, placing placemats, clothing protectors, silverware, and adaptive equipment for meal service.
  • Maintains registrant participation by conversing with registrants and providing them with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Assists the Recreation Coordinator with entertainment activities depending on registrant’s preferences, including accompanying the coordinator on outings, or providing activities in their absence.
  • Provides diversional activities to registrants who are restless and attempting to get up unassisted or at risk for wandering/elopement.
  • Reports any concerns to the nurse/program director.
  • Transports registrants via wheelchair if applicable to the dining room, bathroom, and/or to any activities.
  • Sweeps, mops, and vacuums floors as needed.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the RN and/or Director.
  • Reports any suspected mistreatment of registrants immediately to the Director.
  • Uses safety measures at all times for registrants and self.
  • Demonstrates good communication skills and makes appropriate responses to registrants, including the cognitively-impaired registrants.
  • Attends facilities in-service programs, staff meetings, and facility committee meetings as scheduled.
  • Performs duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility’s corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws.
  • Adheres to the facility’s confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of registrants and employees, as necessary to perform job duties.
