Wake County Health and Human Services is looking for a Bilingual HIV/STD Community Testing Counselor to join the HIV/STD Community Health Team. The HIV/STD Community Health Team supports the HIV and Sexually Transmitted Diseases/Hepatitis C (HIV/STD/Hep C) Community Program within Wake County Health and Human Services Department - Preventive Division. The Community Counselor will serve their clients by providing confidential, compassionate, non-judgmental, client-centered HIV/STD/Hep C counseling and testing, conducting blood draws and specimen collection, laboratory packaging and transport of biohazard and urine specimens, applying and providing individual HIV/STD/PrEP education, limited STD Treatment, and linkage to care. They will also document client registration information, record tests and results, provide results and additional counseling, participate with teams and community screenings in community outreach, provide data collection and narrative reports, participate in staff meetings and staff development, and provide culturally competent HIV pre-test counseling and give test results with appropriate post-test counseling.
