About The Position

This position is for a Community Technician at the Palace residential program, which serves individuals experiencing homelessness. The role focuses on maintaining a safe environment, engaging residents empathetically, and addressing their needs. Responsibilities include screening residents and visitors, documenting incidents and progress, managing supply inventory, conducting fire safety drills, providing first aid/CPR/NARCAN assistance, assisting with inspections and audits, escorting clients, serving meals, and maintaining facility cleanliness. The position is subject to mandatory overtime.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
  • NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required
  • TB clearance when required
  • Effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries
  • Basic computer literacy required

Nice To Haves

  • NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
  • Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license
  • Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
  • Bilingual abilities a plus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, focusing on maintaining a safe environment.
  • Engage individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner.
  • Perform rounds and address the varied needs of individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • Manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust.
  • Screen residents and visitors at the front door.
  • Create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports, and progress notes.
  • Manage inventory for supplies.
  • Maintain fire safety drills and logs.
  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance/NARCAN when needed.
  • Assist with inspections and audits.
  • Escort clients and serve meals as needed.
  • Help maintain an orderly and clean facility.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
