About The Position

This position involves monitoring a residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, with a primary focus on maintaining a safe environment. The role requires engaging individuals empathetically, performing rounds, and addressing their needs. Responsibilities include managing conflict and challenging behaviors with self-awareness, ensuring safety, and building trust. The technician will screen residents and visitors, create written documentation (logbook entries, incident reports, progress notes), manage supply inventory, conduct fire safety drills and logs, and provide emergency first aid/CPR and NARCAN assistance. Additional duties include assisting with inspections and audits, escorting clients, serving meals, and maintaining facility cleanliness. This position is subject to mandatory overtime.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • CPR Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • NYC Fire Safety Guard Certification or the ability to obtain certification required.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Effectively communicate with others both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries.

Nice To Haves

  • NYC Fire Safety Coordinator Certification preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
  • Security guard license preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire license.
  • Food Handler Certificate preferred; employees must be willing to attempt to acquire certification.
  • TB clearance when required.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities a plus.
  • Vaccination Preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor residential program for individuals experiencing homelessness, focusing on safety.
  • Engage individuals in an approachable and empathetic manner.
  • Perform rounds and address the varied needs of individuals.
  • Manage conflict or challenging behaviors with self-awareness, emphasizing safety and building trust.
  • Screen residents and visitors at the front door.
  • Create written documentation, including logbook entries, incident reports, and progress notes.
  • Manage inventory for supplies.
  • Maintain fire safety drills and logs.
  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance and administer NARCAN when needed.
  • Assist with inspections and audits.
  • Escort clients and serve meals as needed.
  • Help maintain an orderly and clean facility.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Subject to mandatory overtime.
