About The Position

Community Support Worker - Part Time Make an impact. Build confidence. Change lives. As a Community Support Worker, you’ll be a positive force in the lives of youth, guiding them through meaningful activities, building healthy relationships, and helping them achieve the goals outlined in their individualized treatment plans. This isn’t a desk job. It’s hands-on, purpose-driven, and deeply rewarding. POSITION SUMMARY Works with assigned participant(s) in an individual or group community-based setting to provide an environment for participant(s) to succeed in meeting the goals on their individual treatment plans. The Community Support Workers act as role models and mentors in motivating the participant(s) to succeed.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education required: High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, time management skills including self-motivation and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to actively engage with youth during planned activities and idle time, developing and maintaining a professional, supportive, mentoring relationship that motivates them to succeed.
  • Exceptional moral character, integrity, work ethic, empathy, a non-judgmental attitude, and a desire to help others succeed.
  • Enthusiasm about gaining knowledge and experience while remaining receptive to feedback.
  • Ability to handle paperwork and clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Complete Online Kansas Train, Pyxis’ policy and procedure training and on-the-job training within 30 days of hire.
  • Attend provided Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training within 90 days of hire.
  • Have a clean driving record, valid Driver’s License, and maintain proper auto insurance.
  • Undergo required background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with kids with behavioral or mental challenges.
  • De-escalation training or experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a human services field or a four-year college degree in a human services field.
  • CPR and First Aid training.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a positive environment that encourages success for participants through positivity, motivation, and appropriate behavioral expectations.
  • Be familiar with the goals found in the participant’s individual treatment plan and provide services related to those specific goals.
  • Report on time and guide youth through planned activities, developing healthy, positive relationships.
  • Using treatment plans to assist youth in managing challenging behaviors and emotions.
  • Provide safe transportation between the arranged pick-up locations and the community site.
  • Enforce the policies and procedures of Pyxis.
  • Maintain contact with program manager, participants' families, guardians, and, as needed or assigned, the referring agency.
  • Complete clinical documentation, attendance sheets, and other paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Attend or complete all required clinical supervision and other training as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
