About The Position
This is a great opportunity to work alongside 4 great guys that live in their home in the Penfield area. One individual loves most activities, is happy most of the time, and is ready to go out and about. He enjoys going to the JCC and horseback riding. Another individual enjoys movies and shows, particularly milder content like Disney or comedy sitcoms. He can be more reclusive and may need encouragement to engage. He also likes attending events and shows, including musicals. A third individual is very passionate about all sports, especially the Yankees and Buffalo Bills, and watches every available game. He also enjoys going out for various activities, particularly to buy a drink. The last individual takes longer to warm up but enjoys movies, TV shows, and video games. He may prefer company while playing video games or may want you to join in. He is also a football fan and enjoys attending most sporting events, as well as going to the movies and out to dinner.
Requirements
- A valid driver license with a record of responsible driving and reliable transportation
- Strong communication skills
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to use a computer efficiently
- Ability to assist people with intimate personal care, as needed
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with people who have an intellectual or developmental disability is preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide the best level of assistance to people who are learning life skills, such as: managing money, keeping a schedule, riding the bus and more
- Support people to have meaningful relationships with friends, which may include get-togethers, phone calls and more
- Assist with medical needs including monitoring health, administering medication and getting to the doctor
- Drive people to and from their appointments
