About The Position

Community Support Specialist - Tennessee Charles Lea Center is looking to hire a part time Community Support Specialist for Dickson County/Surrounding Counties. As a Community Support Specialist, you will provide essential support to individuals with disabilities, helping them lead more independent, fulfilling lives. Responsibilities include assisting with daily living activities, promoting community involvement, ensuring health and safety, and supporting personal goals. Help support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the communities where they live, work, learn, and play. We are looking for someone who is grounded in person centered thinking, who can foster a creative and forward-thinking approach to providing services in Tennessee.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate verbally in English
  • Ability to pass a background check upon hire
  • Valid driver's license
  • Automobile liability insurance
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field; or A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a non-related field and one year of relevant experience; or Associate degree and 2 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma or General Equivalent with 4 years of relevant experience
  • Relevant experience means experience working directly with persons with intellectual, developmental, or other types of disabilities or mental illness.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across departments to ensure homes are operated and maintained in alignment with CLC standards.
  • Provide intervention, support, and assistance during hospitalizations, injuries, deaths, abuse cases, and other critical or emergency situations as needed.
  • Prepare meals based on established menus, considering each individual's diet, health, and physical needs.
  • Support individuals to ensure they are clean, groomed, and dressed appropriately
  • Responsible for daily activities - as scheduled by individuals and staff
  • Ensuring individuals are active in their communities
  • Follow regulations required by Tennessee Department of Disability & Aging (DDA)
  • All other duties as assigned
