About The Position

The Community Support Coach provides in-home and community support for adults with developmental disabilities. This role focuses on helping individuals build skills in community integration, life skills, safety skills, and social skills based on individual goals. It is a flexible and creative position aimed at paving the pathway to success for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and community skills.
  • Proficient technology skills for documentation, communicating, and clocking in and out while working.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Reliable personal vehicle required for client transportation.
  • Ability to stand for periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or another related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support for individuals in their home and/or within the community.
  • Works on goals and skills acquisition with the individual in areas such as communication, social and recreation, ADL, safety skills while promoting independence, self-determination, and self-advocacy.
  • Maintains regular communication with families, Program Director and other professionals involved with the family, when appropriate.
  • Works with families regarding intervention techniques if applicable.
  • Assists individuals and families in accessing resources that might be beneficial.
  • Respects human and legal rights of individuals served.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork such as progress notes, incident reports, time sheets and required DDS progress reports throughout the year.
  • Attends all annual mandatory trainings required by the program as well as Northeast Arc.
