About The Position

The Program Coordinator drives community stability by bridging the gap between immediate hunger relief and long-term self-sufficiency. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the NBU Utility Bill Assistance Program and the execution of key workforce development initiatives. A core function of this position is providing "light-touch" case management, serving as a navigator for neighbors to access vital non-food resources and specialized enrollment programs.

Requirements

  • College degree Social Work, Human Resource, Business, Health, or relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work a Tuesday through Saturday schedule (includes some evenings and holidays as required).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills both orally and in writing.
  • Capable of representing the NBFB with a friendly, welcoming, and professional demeanor.
  • Proficient with MS Office 365 applications.
  • Must have a valid Texas driver’s license, clean driving record and current vehicle insurance.
  • Reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Canva Pro or other design platforms preferred.
  • Experience with Smartsheet, Service Insights on Meal Connect (SIMC), and TablesReady or proven ability to learn new software quickly and use with expertise.
  • Knowledge of community resources; case management principles, objectives, standards, and methods a plus.
  • A strong commitment to the mission and values of the San Antonio Food Bank.
  • Bilingual- English & Spanish (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Manages the NBU Utility Bill Assistance Program: Leads end-to-end application lifecycle including the swift processing of new requests, accurate determination of voucher amounts, and professional correspondence with all applicants. This includes the strategic management of the monthly program budget and the training of volunteers to ensure high-capacity, compliant program support.
  • Organize and execute three (3) major job fairs and at least three (3) single-employer hiring events annually to expand local employment opportunities.
  • Manage the Community Connection Zone and client-facing activity calendar, ensuring flyers and resources are updated and visually engaging.
  • Serve as the primary site point of contact for special enrollment programs such as SCSEP, SEAL, and Re Employability.
  • Provide “light-touch” case management and intervention by issuing referrals for non-food community resources to help neighbors overcome systematic barriers to employment.
  • Prepare regular reports to track program goals, analyze community demand trends, and suggest resource allocations.
  • Represent the New Braunfels Food Bank at various community meetings to maintain strong regional partnerships.
  • Support Food for Today operations as needed, including front desk reception, appointment scheduling, and conducting intakes with a professional and welcoming demeanor.
  • Assist in the pantry at peak times and perform other duties as assigned to support the collective mission of the Food Bank.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information and documentation received.
  • Works with leadership to review programs and resources to continuously meet the needs of the community.
