About The Position

• Advise students on admission processes and procedures for enrollment. • Assist in the preparation of materials for orientation sessions, advising sessions, and assist students in the transfer process depending on the program of study. • Provide targeted CTE, Workforce, and Academic program outreach at designated high schools, fairs, and other locations as assigned. Advise and assist students in registration, scheduling, planning, and placement related to helping them choose appropriate classes. Help engage cohort students in campus life and attend appropriate events and activities that increase retention. • Refer students to appropriate staff regarding career, personal, and transitional issues, and other appropriate student services as deemed necessary (Veterans Affairs, Financial Aid, , Disability Services, etc.). • Collaborate with Career Services to integrate career development activities into advising sessions, promoting internships, job placement, and networking opportunities for students. • Maintain records, student data, and other documents related to advising, outreach, retention, and appropriate reports. • Provide basic information to the public regarding college vocational/technical training programs, Workforce Training, and Education Programs. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college policies, procedures, programs, and articulation with other colleges and surrounding state/private colleges and iversities. • Actively seek and participate in partnership efforts with area high school and colleges in an expanding academic resource role for students. • Develop and support student retention activities for low-performing students. Participate in academic-related decisions for students with documented specialized learning needs or accommodations. • Serve as an active member of all pertinent Perkins Funded career pathway programs, Adult Education programs, Workforce programs, and traditional academic programs. • Utilize technology in providing program completion and career services for students.

Requirements

  • Must be a professional, creative, and resourceful self-starter with a customer service orientation and a willingness to work with a diverse population.
  • Degree in Education or Counseling or related human services field.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Basic technical skills

  • Previous experience in Student Services a plus.
