About The Position

The Environmental Science Institute (ESI) at UT Austin is seeking a Program Coordinator to advance its community STEM engagement initiatives. This role will focus on programs such as the Hot Science – Cool Talks series and the BRIDGES Program's community resilience research network. The coordinator will be responsible for developing, managing, and promoting these programs, assisting with proposal preparation for continued support, and providing administrative assistance for ESI operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field.
  • Five years of experience administering a program, such as an event coordinator, outreach/community engagement coordinator, academic administrator, media specialist, or editor.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize responsibilities, problem-solve, manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Highly detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Class "C" operator's driver's license.
  • Must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence.
  • If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas driver's license within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
  • Completion of federal Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 form.
  • Presentation of acceptable and original documents to prove identity and authorization to work in the United States by the third day of employment.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.

Responsibilities

  • Co-create and manage Hot Science – Cool Talks events, including presenter curation, venue coordination, stakeholder communication, registration management, promotional strategy, presentation and multimedia support, pre-event interactive fair planning, and onsite event logistics.
  • Coordinate multimedia content development for Hot Science – Cool Talks and its TV show, Hot Science TV, including management and promotion of livestreams and podcasts, and overseeing development of associated educational materials.
  • Provide logistical support for fundraising efforts related to STEM communication and engagement initiatives, including fundraising campaigns and proposal preparation.
  • Develop and strengthen existing connections with community partners to implement ESI’s community engagement, including by participating in community events.
  • Provide support for ESI operations, including setting weekly meeting agendas, tracking inventory, and working with JSG’s financial office to distribute financial reports and information.
  • Assist ESI Director as needed.
  • Other related functions as assigned.
