Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention principles and supportive counseling techniques.
  • Ability to conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Effective communication skills to build rapport with clients and families.
  • Organizational abilities to maintain detailed records and coordinate care effectively.
  • Proficiency in computer software tools.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services such as Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
  • One (1) year experience providing behavioral health services to adults with serious mental illness or emotionally impaired.
  • Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP or be eligible to register as a QMHP-Trainee within 30 days of employment.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing skill-building interventions and engaging natural supports to facilitate effective de-escalation and stabilization strategies.
  • Providing critical care coordination that acts as a bridge service, assisting clients as they transition between different levels of care.
  • Planning individualized development training.
  • Conducting needs assessments.
  • Advocating for client rights and services.
  • Maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Monitoring progress.
  • Coordinating appointments.
  • Fostering effective working relationships in a supportive team environment.
  • Proficiency in computer usage and effective communication are essential for this role.
