About The Position

Association for New Canadians is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees. This full-time position is based in Clarenville, NL, and will run until August 20, 2026. The role involves assisting the Regional Settlement Coordinator in building community capacity for newcomers in the region.

Requirements

  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with diverse clients.
  • Efficient communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Hold a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and have legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Must have own means of transportation.
  • Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check from the RCMP.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
  • Experience working with newcomer populations is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Regional Settlement Coordinator in planning, developing, and implementing various cultural and recreational activities, projects, and programming to support newcomer integration.
  • Assist the Community Connections Officer, as needed, in supporting community engagement and program delivery.
  • Assist with the development of marketing and promotional materials, including informational brochures in hard copy, digital, electronic, and social media formats.
  • Assist in coordinating events and presentations to create awareness of programming designed to support newcomers.
  • Maintain regular and open communication with program team members and all other co-workers.
