About The Position

LSI is a human services agency with over 150 years of experience serving children, adults, and families in Iowa. Their Refugee and Immigrant Services program assists new Iowans through educational classes, wellness programming, and economic development services, helping them build a solid foundation in their new home. The Community Resource Navigator will provide direct support services to LSI clients, helping them overcome language and cultural differences and reduce barriers to achieve community integration and self-sufficiency. This role involves utilizing bilingual or multilingual skills to facilitate educational activities and workshops, ensuring clients maximize their understanding and utilization of LSI services and community resources. The Navigator will also communicate vital information to clients from classes, appointments, and paperwork, and collaborate with community partners, volunteers, and LSI staff to deliver high-quality services that support client goals. The position primarily focuses on outreach for refugee and immigrant mental health and wellness programming but may also support other programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 6 months related experience
  • Ability to communicate successfully in English and at least one other language to meet the needs of populations served (Dari/Pashto)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Auto insurance
  • Good driving record
  • Ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check

Responsibilities
