About The Position

The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard, through our Miracles in Progress Residential Program, provides structured behavioral health and addiction recovery services for chronically homeless men in Philadelphia. Our goal is to help individuals stabilize, engage in treatment, and work toward long term recovery. We focus on providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment where individuals can rebuild their lives. Our team works closely together to support each resident’s recovery journey and reintegration into the community. We are seeking compassionate and motivated Community Recovery Specialists with hands-on work experience in behavioral health or addiction recovery to join our team on a per diem basis. This is a direct care role where you will provide supervision, peer support, and recovery-focused services to residents. You will play a key role in helping individuals stay engaged in treatment, develop relapse prevention skills, and transition successfully back into the community.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 college credits in Behavioral Health, Human Services, or related field required
  • At least one year of hands-on experience working with individuals in recovery or behavioral health required
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required
  • Strong de-escalation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy and comfort with documentation systems
  • Knowledge of 12 Step Recovery Models, AA, NA, motivational interviewing, and recovery management

Nice To Haves

  • WRAP Certification strongly preferred
  • Certified Peer Specialist or Certified Recovery Specialist certification preferred
  • Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one peer support and engagement to residents in recovery
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery-focused groups and discussions
  • Conduct room checks, safety rounds, and monitor resident behavior
  • Support vital signs monitoring, urine collection, and package inspection as needed
  • Assist nursing and counseling staff with daily programming and client needs
  • Transport residents to medical, legal, and community appointments
  • Document observations and maintain accurate records in the Electronic Health Record
  • Provide follow-up recovery support after treatment completion
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment
