About The Position

Your role at BHSN: As a Community Psychiatric Practitioner, you will deliver rehabilitation services and focusing on community inclusion.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in social work, mental health counseling, or related human service field, plus one year of applicable experience in children’s mental health, foster care, substance use disorders, child welfare, juvenile justice or related human services field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or in related human services, plus 3 years of experience in children’s mental health, foster care, substance use disorders, child welfare, juvenile justice or related human services field required.
  • Ability to work with children and families in home and community-based settings and via telehealth
  • Completion of Mandated Reporter training
  • Valid NYS driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to BHSN insurance carrier and reliable transportation required for local travel

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and/or group psychosocial rehabilitation services and community psychiatric supports and treatment, as permitted by credentials, scope of practice, and training, to an assigned caseload
  • Delivers therapeutic and crisis intervention services to youth with behavioral and emotional challenges and their families to help prevent out-of-home placement or psychiatric hospitalizations
  • Provides supportive services in the home of the child/family, in the community, or at organizational program sites, to most effectively support the recovery goal of the child
  • Develops, documents, and provides a variety of age-appropriate skill building activities in accordance with corresponding medical necessity guidelines
  • Participates in the development, writing and timely completion of treatment plans, progress notes and other required documentation that is person-centered and through a strengths-based lens, in accordance with State/federal regulations, program requirements and BHSN policies and procedures
