About The Position

Provide direct support to community members by sharing information and resources related to substance use prevention, parenting education, and CDAC services to address risk and protective factors that promote healthy lifestyles. Assist the Director of Community Prevention and the Parenting for Prevention program needs. Responsibilities include coordinating contacts and arrangements, managing written and verbal communications, maintaining records, data, and reports, and providing professional reception services to community members, individuals, callers, visitors, and other organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Education, or health education field or High School Diploma with a CPP (Certified Prevention Professional) or CPS (Certified Prevention Specialist) and experience
  • Knowledge of drug information, prevention concepts, and education field
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple job tasks with continuously changing priorities
  • Experience working with at-risk and culturally diverse population
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other computer related tasks
  • Employee must be able to engage with community members in-person and virtually for extended periods
  • Employee must remain stationary for prolonged periods
  • Employee must move throughout the office or other work locations as necessary
  • Employee must regularly operate computer equipment in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to effectively interact with individuals, management, staff, and stakeholders while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Employee must also provide reliable personal transportation to and from the office and partner agency locations as needed to fulfill job-related responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Disseminating referral and resource information
  • Supporting program promotion and outreach efforts
  • Coordinating follow-up activities
  • Assisting with the delivery of prevention and parenting education services
  • Coordinating and maintaining effective communication with referral agencies, CDAC Parenting Specialist, and the Director of Community Prevention to support services, referrals, program implementation, and follow-up activities
  • Promoting Parenting for Prevention, CDAC programs, substance ATOD and wellness information, to the community-at-large
  • Assisting with the planning, coordination, and logistical support of CDAC-sponsored events, community outreach activities, workshops, educational displays, and other prevention initiatives
  • Preparing material, coordinating event setup and operations, staffing informational booths at community outreach, health fairs, and events, and facilitating scheduled activities to promote community engagement and prevention education
  • Performing community outreach duties as assigned, serving as a primary point of contact for individuals, stakeholders, and community members
  • Answering and routing incoming calls, providing accurate information regarding agency programs and services, and directing inquiries to appropriate staff or resources
  • Assisting individuals in accessing community resources by making appropriate referrals and providing information on substance use treatment and recovery services, crisis support resources (including 211 and 988), and other human service programs
  • Providing and developing material on wellness, parenting, general alcohol and drug information as directed by supervisor
  • Adhering to all agency policy and procedures, program policy and procedures, safety, ethics, and appropriate state and federal regulations
  • Maintaining knowledge of current resources and other general human services
  • Maintaining confidentiality in regard to individual rights and HIPAA regulations by handling client and agency data in accordance with the confidentiality policies
  • Implementing programs according to program standards and objectives ensuring that all agency, COA, DCF, Managing Entity and other relevant standards for quality are identified and followed that ensure quality and compliance
  • Collecting all necessary data in a timely manner for the reporting and evaluation of program activities and outcomes
  • Communicating and working collaboratively with team members, attending team meetings, and communicating regularly with supervisors on program needs and issues
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships and appropriate community resources and supports
  • Promoting program with community and developing community resources
  • Completing program support duties, including but not limited to email and telephone correspondence, telephone and web conferences, and completing required documentation, reports and time sheets accurately and on time
  • Working flexible schedule when necessary and assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of this agency
  • Attending all required agency and professional development training
