The Community Preparedness Coordinator will be responsible for the management, recruitment, training and deployment of community volunteer groups and those associated with NCEM. The position will integrate NCEM principles, directives and strategic plan to enhance readiness, build capacity and resiliency across North Carolina through the “Whole of Community” approach. The Community Preparedness Coordinator serves as an expert or lead in this endeavor to include the identification of needs and gaps across volunteer and community organizations, non-profit, public schools, state agencies, higher education, private sector and non-English speaking citizens to enhance the survivability and readiness of communities before, during, and after disasters. The ability to work independently, analyze and solve problems, identify challenges and communicate at a high level in a fluid, rapidly changing environment is required.
