About The Position

We are seeking dedicated employees for our Habilitative Aide Program who want to help us continue to provide services that improve the quality of life for people with special needs in Mercer County.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Ability to work effectively with people and aid them to grow in the constructive use of their potential in adjusting to their specific problems or disability.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Individuals, family members and other staff.
  • Basic knowledge of developmental disabilities and its social and emotional impact.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in non-violent crisis intervention.
  • Ability to make sound judgment regarding the health and safety of persons with developmental disabilities and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision in a 1:1 community setting, adhering to Community Participation guidelines established through MCAR, Inc. and the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP).
  • Serve as an implementor for individual's goals per annual ISP.
  • Complete computer-based charting (Therap), data entry including payroll and attendance, time sheets, and other required documentation.
  • Administer emergency CPR and first aid utilizing universal precautions as needed.
  • Complete the process for administering prescribed medications to individuals supported across all approved locations within the program.
  • Implement ISP goals.
  • Complete Community Participation approved activities with the supported individuals.
  • Complete daily computer entry of charting and progress notes.
  • Assist Individuals with personal care needs.
  • Provide instruction, demonstration, and hands-on training as needed.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for Individuals to complete available sub-contract and day activities.
  • Count, record, and monitor finished product for quality control.
  • Monitor Individuals problems/concerns referring to Transitional Coordinators as needed.
  • Responsible for record-keeping, attendance at staff and other meetings, annual ISP reviews.
  • Participate in a minimum of 24 hours of annual in-service training.
  • Assist in arrival/departure logistics.
  • Assist Individuals during lunch and break times.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.
