About The Position

Civic Works’ Energy Programs aim to make solar energy and energy efficiency upgrades accessible and affordable for residents in Baltimore City and Central Maryland. These programs help residents of all income levels reduce their energy bills, improve home comfort and safety, and contribute positively to the environment. As a key part of Civic Works’ job training center, these initiatives also provide pathways to careers in the clean energy sector. Civic Works' green initiatives have received recognition from prominent publications and organizations. The Community Outreach Coordinator will be crucial in ensuring an equitable clean energy transition, focusing on bringing the benefits of the green economy to historically marginalized communities in Central Maryland, particularly Howard County. This role involves direct engagement with residents through outreach and education at community events in Howard County to significantly increase participation in free and subsidized home energy efficiency and solar energy programs. The Coordinator will also foster partnerships with local Howard County organizations to disseminate information about Civic Works programs through trusted community networks. Responsibilities include tracking outreach activities, partnerships, and client interactions in Salesforce for impact assessment and funder reporting. Requirements

  • Experience with community outreach, marketing, communications, community organizing, lead generation, sales, fundraising, or other relevant work that engages diverse communities or builds relationships required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with the ability to regularly travel to outreach events across Central Maryland, including Baltimore, Harford, Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, and Howard Counties is required.
  • Ability to explain technical information in a clear and accessible way for diverse audiences.
  • Strong communication skills, including verbal, interpersonal, and written communication.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with CRM software and Google Workspace.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals and achieve success in independent and collaborative work settings.
  • Strong initiative and creativity.
  • Ability to recognize problems, develop innovative solutions, and implement them.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Howard County is preferred.
  • Experience with energy efficiency or solar energy is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mutually beneficial partnerships with community organizations and leaders to promote energy efficiency programs.
  • Create referral systems with agencies that assist low- and moderate-income clients.
  • Organize community events, workshops and presentations for a variety of neighborhood groups, civic associations, workplaces, and faith-based organizations.
  • Regularly log community partner information and communications into Salesforce.
  • Track, evaluate, and strengthen the effectiveness of the program’s partnerships.
  • Engage with residents at community events and through phone calls to educate them about energy efficiency and solar programs, tailoring messages to their specific needs.
  • Generate qualified leads for energy efficiency and solar programs, meeting monthly benchmarks.
  • Inform customers about program benefits, eligibility for free and/or subsidized home upgrades, and what to expect after signing up.
  • Follow up with past clients to enlist their support as program ambassadors.
  • Assist customers in completing online intake applications and maintain accurate customer data in Salesforce.
  • Assess outreach effectiveness to continuously improve strategies.
