About The Position

Our Community Rehabilitation Services team works across Ontario, treating clients who have experienced mental stress injuries and motor vehicle accidents, with a focus on returning them to pre-accident function. In our Traumatic Psychological Injury program, Occupational Therapists work with clients like first responders, utilizing interventions such as in-vivo exposure therapy, behavioral activation, and virtual reality to promote industry-leading mental health outcomes. This specialized program allows OTs to become experts in a growing niche within the profession. In our Complex Auto program, Occupational Therapists assess and treat clients with physical, cognitive, and psychosocial impairments related to motor vehicle accidents. This includes in-home and hospital discharge assessments, ergonomic assessments, concussion treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, and mental health treatment, providing comprehensive 'start to finish care'. Some OTs focus on one area, while others prefer a mixed caseload. Requirements

Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
A valid driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle (travel up to 1-1.5 hours radius)
Willingness to provide in-vivo OT treatment in a variety of settings, including client’s homes, workplaces, and/or in the community
Passion about your profession, commitment to ongoing professional development, and dedication to providing excelled client care
The ability to thrive in a self-directed and independent environment
Strong organizational skills
Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and analytic skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Empathy and an effective ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders

Nice To Haves

Experience in the private sector, particularly auto sector legislation and mental health, is an asset.

Responsibilities

Conduct in-vivo exposure therapy and behavioral activation.
Facilitate trauma processing, coping, and return to function.
Assess and treat clients presenting with various physical (musculoskeletal, orthopaedic), cognitive (TBIs, concussions) and psychosocial impairments related to motor vehicle accidents.
Complete in-home and hospital discharge assessments.
Perform ergonomic assessments.
Provide concussion treatment.
Offer cognitive rehabilitation.
Deliver mental health treatment.
Provide 'start to finish care' and guide clients through their recovery.
