About The Position

CBI Health is Canada's leading community healthcare provider, with a national interdisciplinary network of over 2,500 healthcare staff and professionals. They focus on innovating services to provide better recovery and support for clients, prioritizing client needs and utilizing a diverse healthcare team to offer data-driven solutions and improved health outcomes. CBI Health’s Community Rehabilitation Services team operates across Ontario, treating clients who have experienced mental stress injuries and motor vehicle accidents, with the goal of returning them to pre-accident function. The Traumatic Psychological Injury program involves Occupational Therapists working with clients, such as first responders, who have experienced workplace trauma. This includes conducting in-vivo exposure therapy, behavioural activation, and facilitating trauma processing, coping, and return to function, incorporating novel interventions like virtual reality. The Complex Auto program involves OTs assessing and treating clients with various physical (musculoskeletal, orthopaedic), cognitive (TBIs, concussions), and psychosocial impairments related to motor vehicle accidents. This community-based role includes in-home and hospital discharge assessments, ergonomic assessments, concussion treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, and mental health treatment, providing comprehensive 'start to finish care'. Occupational Therapists have the flexibility to focus on one area of practice or manage a mixed caseload.

Requirements

  • Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • A valid driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle (travel up to 1-1.5 hours radius)
  • Willingness to provide in-vivo OT treatment in a variety of settings, including client’s homes, workplaces, and/or in the community
  • Passion about your profession, commitment to ongoing professional development, and dedication to providing excelled client care
  • The ability to thrive in a self-directed and independent environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and analytic skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Empathy and an effective ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-vivo exposure therapy and behavioural activation
  • Facilitate trauma processing, coping and return to function
  • Assess and treat clients presenting with various physical (musculoskeletal, orthopaedic), cognitive (TBIs, concussions) and psychosocial impairments related to motor vehicle accidents
  • Complete in-home and hospital discharge assessments
  • Perform ergonomic assessments
  • Provide concussion treatment
  • Conduct cognitive rehabilitation
  • Provide mental health treatment
  • Guide clients through every step of their recovery
  • Provide in-vivo OT treatment in a variety of settings, including client’s homes, workplaces, and/or in the community
  • Perform virtual treatment, billing, report writing and documentation
