About The Position

Initiate mortgage loans by effectively networking in the community and increasing the credit union’s share of the mortgage market. This role involves actively pursuing sales leads, making sales calls, and conducting pre-qualification interviews to advise members on the best mortgage products available for their situation. The position requires performing follow-up on all files to expedite approval and informing members of necessary documentation and information needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum high School degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years similar or related financial experience.
  • Required to obtain or posses a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) qualifier (i.e. registration number).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to proactively respond to members/employees to problem solve based on guidelines; written communications are based on templates but can be modified.
  • Ability to sit and stand; answer calls; operate computer; interact with internal employees and members on the phone; travel to designated offices; lift up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Seeks out and processes mortgage loans.
  • Establish and maintain professional business relationships with members, realtors, and building professionals.
  • Spend at least half of time outside office actively pursuing sales leads.
  • Make sales calls to potential and existing members to retain current business and develop new mortgage loans.
  • Conduct initial pre-qualification interviews and process preliminary documentation.
  • Prepares loan application packages and advises members on the best mortgage products available for their situation.
  • Perform follow-up on all files to expedite approval, informing members of necessary documentation and information needed.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
