About The Position

The Community Ministries Worker assists in the organization of the food bank and distribution of donations. This role involves conducting initial intake assessments, providing emergency assistance, maintaining client confidentiality and records, and assisting with the organization and cleanliness of the food bank and family services area. The position operates within The Salvation Army's mission, vision, and values, requiring a professional demeanor and exemplary Christian standards of conduct.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, plus additional education in the social work or human services field.
  • Up to one year related experience.
  • Respect and understanding of The Salvation Army - its mission, culture, and values.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding for individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Good computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts initial intake assessments (including evaluation of client/protection issues), determining immediate needs and supports needed by the client.
  • Provide emergency assistance and/or other forms of direct service for clients applicable to the program.
  • Maintains confidentiality and keeps accurate client files and statistical records.
  • Assists in the organization, maintenance and general cleanliness of the food bank and family services area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Effective distribution of food bank donations.
