About The Position

MATTER is seeking a Community Manager to ensure their 15,000-square-foot space operates smoothly, lead the front desk function, and foster connections within their community of healthcare entrepreneurs and innovators. This role requires a proactive individual who can act as a host, operator, fixer, and instigator, identifying and addressing issues, and creating opportunities to bring people together. The ideal candidate will not only manage the day-to-day operations of the space but also conceptualize and execute community-based programming to enhance the experience of members and partners.

Requirements

  • 1–3+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to organize and bring people together.
  • Knack for ideas and the ability to follow through.
  • Understanding of the healthcare innovation world to identify resonant programming.
  • Ability to work across a team to execute ideas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to make people feel welcome.
  • Experience running an office, space, or community.
  • Comfort with technology and willingness to learn new things.
  • Proactive approach to fixing problems.
  • Attention to detail.
  • High level of reliability.
  • Must be located in Chicago and willing to work on-site.

  • Experience in a similar role at a co-working space or innovation hub.

Responsibilities

  • Design community-based programming such as meetups, founder gatherings, peer circles, and topical salons.
  • Foster connections and momentum within the community.
  • Collaborate with marketing, ventures, and partnerships teams to bring ideas to fruition.
  • Shape the overall experience of being at MATTER.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the 15,000-sq-ft space.
  • Serve as a visible and approachable presence in the space.
  • Assist members, partners, and guests in getting what they need.
  • Maintain an organized, welcoming, and prepared space.
  • Manage and support the receptionist to ensure warm and effective interactions.
  • Own and troubleshoot conference room technology, AV, printers, WiFi, and keycards.
  • Identify patterns in operational issues and implement improvements.
  • Support the CEO with scheduling, coordination, and ad-hoc tasks.
