About The Position

The Community Living Society (CLS) is an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full, productive, and meaningful lives. CLS provides quality Person-Centered support through residential, individualized, and community-based programs. The role of a support worker involves providing support and actively engaging individuals to live fulfilling and increasingly independent lives. This includes helping individuals discover their community, learn new life-skills, find employment, and more. Day Supports is a service designed for individuals requiring ongoing support to participate in the community, engaging in activities such as volunteering, social/recreational opportunities, or learning new skills, all based on their goals and preferences.

Requirements

  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
  • Ability to maneuver a wheelchair

Nice To Haves

  • Class 5 driver’s license (permanent staff must be willing to obtain a Class 4 license)
  • Experience high behavioral support
  • Prior paid or volunteer experience
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
  • Mandt System®
  • Knowledge of Person Centered Active Supports
  • Ability to swim

Responsibilities

  • Providing individuals support with various life goals
  • Home support duties (including, but not limited to personal care, bathing, bathroom support, meal preparation)
  • Community outings (including, but not limited to volunteering, paid employment and leisure activities)
  • Maintaining records of daily activities and goal progression
