About The Position

The incumbent provides direct support to the Codiac law enforcement activities as it engages community partners in problem solving and bridging the service gaps and increasing protective factors in individuals involved with the law. The incumbent will also provide general and specific assistance to the most at risk clients.

Requirements

  • University degree in Social Work and registered/member in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of practical work experience in social work or similar work.
  • Familiarity with social-based services and programs nationally, provincially, and locally.
  • Experience conducting interviews and assessments with clients.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Competence to organize and conduct public meetings and various consultations independently.
  • Self-motivated with capability in program coordination and administration.
  • Strong abilities in facilitation skills and strategic planning.
  • Knowledgeable of the New Brunswick Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Familiarity with the Vulnerable Sector community and the social culture of the Greater Moncton area.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and Windows applications (Internet/Intranet).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must be of the highest integrity and character.
  • Must be prepared to undertake an Oath of Affirmation of Secrecy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with addictions and Mental Health issues.
  • Ability to communicate in both official languages.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct support to law enforcement activities by engaging community partners in problem-solving.
  • Bridges service gaps and increases protective factors for individuals involved with the law.
  • Offers general and specific assistance to high-risk clients.
  • Facilitates, coordinates, and trains volunteers, volunteer groups, summer students, part-time casual staff, or contract staff.
  • Initiates and maintains contacts with appropriate community organizations to facilitate their needs.
  • Provides advice and direction to community-based organizations and the Codiac RCMP.
  • Conducts interviews and assessments with clients.
  • Organizes and conducts public meetings and various consultations independently.
  • Performs program coordination and administration.
  • Facilitates strategic planning.
