About The Position

This position with APD will serve staff and management across the Agency. Your work will impact the workplace culture, our community, and the population we serve as we continuously strive to achieve the Agency’s mission. This position spends the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees’ work, and has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. This is a highly responsible professional and administrative position involved in supervising, planning, monitoring and evaluating Agency for Persons with Disabilities programs with special emphasis on developing strategies for promoting employment of Individuals with Disabilities and oversight of Adult Day Training centers (ADTs).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License or other efficient means of transportation and willing to travel for work purposes.
  • Four years of related professional experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Knowledge of APD iConnect to complete business processes.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating staff.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Ability to provide responsive customer service.
  • Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to use tracking systems to monitor and complete work assignments within required timeframes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and the ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to lead, supervise and manage people.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
  • Ability to analyze problems comprehensively and recommend solutions /change(s) quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and decision making, weighing the costs and benefits of a potential action.
  • Ability to be flexible and prioritize workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises unit and oversees operational functions of the Transportation, Employment and Adult Day Training initiatives for the Agency.
  • Collaborates with local, state and federal agencies and other stakeholders for the unit’s initiatives.
  • Assures compliance with required standards, and correct and current information is available for data analysis and review of the Agency's Home and Community Based (HCBS) Waiver(s) system.
  • Coordinates with regional staff, other programs, agencies and agency positions to develop and ensure compliance with standards for participation in the waiver program.
  • Conducts employment plan reviews to ensure compliance with state and federal rules and procedures.
  • Exercises independent judgement to make decisions and prepare complete written recommendations with appropriate legal citations.
  • Coordinates with the state Medicaid agency regarding shared rules and content.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
