About The Position

Life Works is looking for a Community Inclusion Specialist to provide opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop, plan & participate in activities in the community. This position requires an individual to be enthusiastic and creative while supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities activities identified by program participants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Complete and pass department background check to include FBI fingerprint check.
  • Able to squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, be able to lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ own body weight), push and pull against potential resistance.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen (does NOT include THC).
  • Put client needs as a number one priority.
  • Dependable and have a strong work ethic.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with individuals with Developmental /Intellectual disabilities is a PLUS.
  • Understanding of how to research local, free (or low cost) activities.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and/or protocols for individual participants.
  • Ability to support participants with signing up for activities.
  • Ability to write clear and concise progress notes.
  • Ability to problem solve, be flexible, creative and adaptable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan & participate in activities in the community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in activities identified by program participants.
  • Build relationships with clients while maintaining boundaries.
  • Communicate with team members on any issues or concerns regarding services.
  • Manage your own schedule and post for the team.
  • Respond to a fluid environment and make quick, appropriate decisions.
  • Implement non-physical and physical interventions and CPR with people supported when needed.
