At Resources for Human Development (RHD), we are seeking compassionate professionals to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We are dedicated to providing caring, effective, and innovative services that empower people of all abilities to build a better life. RHD is a nonprofit organization with over 115 human service programs across the country, serving tens of thousands of people with effective programs supporting intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral health, homelessness, and addiction recovery. As a Community Inclusion Specialist, you will provide assistance to adults with developmental disabilities, creating and facilitating daily outings designed to promote community integration, build cultural identity, and connect participants with relevant opportunities to help meet their larger goals within the community. Participants may engage in cultural activities, museum visits, life skills-based excursions, volunteer opportunities, and park visits. You may accompany up to three people at a time in the community, using public transportation or a program vehicle.

Requirements

High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Three years’ experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
Basic Computer skills using Microsoft Products.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Proof of active car insurance.

Responsibilities

Escort, supervise and oversee groups of up to 3 participants into the community on a daily basis to take part in activities and/or events.
Meet the basic needs of our participants while in the community. This may include medication administration, or assistance with other Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as required by the participant.
Implement ISP’s (Individual Support Plans) and behavior plans, as needed.
Maintain sufficient knowledge of participants’ ISPs and personal needs required to work with them in a meaningful and productive way.
Create monthly budgets for outings and maintain tracking of receipts and expenditures for reconciliation.
Complete all required paperwork, including but not limited to daily progress notes on a regular and timely basis.
Have regular access to reliable transportation, using your own vehicle in your work.
Attend to basic first aid, when needed.
