About The Position
Community Interface Services is seeking a compassionate and flexible individual to work alongside individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and support them in building independence within their communities. We are a nonprofit organization that has empowered adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1983. Our mission is to provide quality, individualized, community-based support and training in employment, housing, community living, and other related services.
Requirements
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Resourcefulness.
- Teaching skills.
- A car in safe working order.
- Vehicle insurance.
- A valid CA driver's license.
- At least 2 years of driving experience.
- A high school diploma is required.
Nice To Haves
- A bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience with the I/DD community.
Responsibilities
- Meet with each person in a 1-to-1 ratio and provide resources or coaching to help them reach their goals.
- Traverse the community through public transportation.
- Support the individual in finding social, recreational, or volunteer opportunities.
- Provide higher education support.
- Document progress of each individual.
- Work with the larger team to identify next steps.
