About The Position

You are a trusted presence in the community. Your role is to build relationships, create trust, and represent a consistent and positive presence connected to Public Health.

Requirements

  • Must have HS Diploma or GED
  • 15-20 hours per week
  • Mostly in the community (not in an office)
  • Flexible schedule (some evenings & weekends)

Responsibilities

  • Build Relationships: Spend time in the community consistently, connect with residents, churches, and local organizations, and be someone people recognize and feel comfortable talking to.
  • Promote Healthy Lifestyles: Keep conversations simple, relatable, and real regarding nutrition, physical activity, WIC and family support services, chronic disease prevention, and environmental health.
  • Engage the Community: Have 1:1 conversations, support or help lead workshops, and participate in and help coordinate community events.
  • Be the voice of the Community: Listen more than you talk, identify needs, barriers, and concerns, and share what you're hearing with the team.
