About The Position

The Community Impact Intern will gain a broad overview of STCU’s Community Impact department, which encompasses corporate philanthropy, the Here for Good Foundation, the Volunteers Count program, and government and public affairs initiatives. Responsibilities will involve assisting the Community Impact team with research, writing, and administrative support for various projects. These projects include donation stewardship, support for the Volunteers Count program, assistance with special events, and research and written updates on policy issues affecting the credit union. Specific duties include preparing for and following up on events, organizing storage areas, undertaking writing assignments, conducting research and analysis, performing data entry, and compiling and summarizing information on diverse and complex subjects. This position is fully in-person and located at STCU Headquarters in Liberty Lake, WA. The internship is anticipated to run from September 2026 to May 2027, with a potential for an earlier start date for eligible candidates. The role is part-time, averaging 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during the academic year. A car is required for this position, and mileage reimbursement is provided, excluding travel to and from the work location.

Requirements

  • Must remain enrolled in college and eligible to receive internship credit for the duration of the internship through Spring 2027.
  • Currently working on a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Political Science, Government Relations, Public Administration, Economics or Law, or similar.
  • Versatile to work in a small team as a contributor and self-starter.
  • Ability to research, take complex information and synthesize it into high level executive summaries.
  • Organized and good at helping others get organized.
  • Excellent verbal, organizational and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Forms.
  • Hard worker with a fun, can-do attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Community involvement, volunteer experience, and/or prior office experience.
  • Knowledge and passion for government relations and advocacy related topics.
  • Previous experience with research, writing, or data analysis.
  • Previous experience in community relations work or internships.
