About The Position

We are seeking a highly collaborative Community Impact Director in our Las Vegas division who will serve as the primary connector between community organizations, fundraising staff, volunteers, and market leadership. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role advances the mission of the American Heart Association by aligning mission priorities with market-wide strategies and opportunities. This hybrid role supports initiatives that drive sustainable impact changes to improve health factors and community readiness. It also manages outreach efforts, leads volunteer-driven initiatives, and ensures the Association’s impact is effectively communicated and measured within the community. Requirements

  • 3 years of relevant experience with community/public health issues and/or managing community/public health promotion or related educational programs or other related experience.
  • University/College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to recruit, mobilize and manage volunteers, including C-suite level executives.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills in assessing the local market environment and available resources to successfully implement new and existing programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large projects and events ensuring deadline compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients. Ability to influence team members without supervisory authority.
  • Ability to do daily local travel up to 25%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times.
  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving.
  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the social determinants of health (SDOH) as it relates to behavior modification through self-care activities and policy/system-wide changes.
  • Understanding of local health systems, relationships with hospitals, health clinics, and Federally Qualified Health Centers preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and nurtures relationships with health care organizations, community organizations, and government agencies to promote heart health. Collaborates with volunteers and key stakeholders to identify and implement strategies on heart disease and stroke prevention within the market.
  • Drives heart-health-focused sustainable impact changes that improve nutrition security, chronic disease outcomes, and community readiness.
  • Implements national initiatives locally, including Outpace CVD strategies with primary care organizations.
  • Recruits, trains, and manages volunteers and strategic community alliances (faith-based institutions, federally qualified health centers, grassroots community organizations, etc.) in support of our efforts to improve health, engage in collective impact initiatives, and create a sustainable culture of health throughout the market.
  • Implements and tracks performance metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of American Heart Association’s community impact programs. Evaluates program success, identifies areas for improvement, and provides recommendations to enhance outreach and engagement strategies.
  • Provides leadership and expertise in community health strategies, population health initiatives, and health efforts while serving as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborates on sponsorship or funding initiatives by sharing program expertise and participating in revenue-related activities as needed. Partners closely with Development staff, helping strengthen donor engagement and long-term investment.
  • Represents the American Heart Association as a visible community leader, cultivating relationships and advancing strategic opportunities through community events, forums, coalitions, and partner engagement.
  • Translates community health outcomes and data into compelling stories that demonstrate impact and community action.
