About The Position

Potentia Human Resources is leading the search for a creative, strategic, and passionate Communications & Marketing lead for the Central Okanagan Foundation (COF). This is an in-person, in-office role where the successful candidate will work with a small team dedicated to connecting people who care with causes that matter, helping build stronger communities through philanthropy, granting, scholarships, and community leadership. As one of Canada's community foundations, the COF has been working since 1979 to invest in initiatives that create lasting impact across the Central Okanagan. This newly created role offers a unique opportunity to build the COF's communications strategy from the ground up, modernize its brand, strengthen donor engagement, and share the inspiring stories of individuals and organizations making a difference in the community. The ideal candidate is an exceptional storyteller who enjoys combining strategy with hands-on execution and desires their work to have a lasting impact.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Business Communications, or a related field (equivalent experience will also be considered)
  • 3-5 years of communications and marketing experience
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
  • Experience creating content across multiple platforms
  • Strong graphic design skills using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Experience managing websites, social media, and digital marketing campaigns
  • Knowledge of WordPress or similar CMS platforms
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp
  • Familiarity with Canva, Google Analytics, SEO, and marketing analytics
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Confidence working independently while collaborating with a supportive team
  • A portfolio showcasing your writing, design, and marketing work

  • Non-profit or charitable sector experience
  • Photography and videography experience
  • Fundraising or donor communications experience
  • Experience with AI-assisted marketing tools
  • CRM experience such as Foundant or similar platforms

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the COF's annual communications and marketing strategy
  • Strengthen and modernize the COF's brand across all platforms
  • Create compelling stories highlighting donor impact, charities, scholarships, and community initiatives
  • Write engaging content for newsletters, annual reports, website, blogs, donor communications, speeches, and media releases
  • Manage and grow the COF's website and digital presence
  • Plan and execute social media and digital marketing campaigns
  • Develop email marketing campaigns and donor communications
  • Design brochures, reports, presentations, advertisements, and promotional materials
  • Produce photography, video, and visual storytelling content for events and campaigns
  • Build relationships with local media and coordinate public relations opportunities
  • Support fundraising initiatives including Giving Tuesday, year-end campaigns, and donor stewardship
  • Coordinate marketing for COF events and community initiatives
  • Monitor marketing analytics and campaign performance to drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain editorial calendars, digital assets, and brand standards
  • Collaborate closely with leadership, philanthropy, grants, and community partners to communicate the COF's impact
