About The Position

The Community Health Worker serves as a liaison between the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD), the community, health and social service systems. This position will be responsible for collaborating with internal and external partners in alignment with the district's existing SEL, PBIS, and MTSS frameworks, to increase community member awareness, self-sufficiency, and access to services and other resources among diverse populations with an emphasis in substance abuse/misuse prevention and intervention. The Community Health Worker improves the quality and cultural competence of service delivery and is a key program component in the dissemination of education and resources to the students and families of the TUSD community. This position will provide referrals or work with approved outside community agencies to provide information to students and families.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 1 year experience participating in community groups and involvement with community resources or services
  • 1 year experience working with multi-cultural populations of children and youth.
  • Knowledge, experience or involvement with community resources or services
  • Knowledge and ability to use word processing, database and spreadsheet programs.
  • Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.
  • Valid Driver's license (Arizona Driver’s License required within 30 days of hire)
  • MVReport – showing no more than the allowable points against Driver’s License as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees.
  • Reliable mode of personal transportation with evidence of insurance compliance greater than or equal to the state required minimum for car insurance as described under Governing Board Policy: EEB-R-1 Business and Personnel Transportation Services - Transportation by Employees
  • Availability to work flex hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.
