About The Position

The Community Health Worker works to provide outreach opportunities for community residents who lack access to healthcare and health insurance, provide enrollment and application assistance. Employee should maintain a professional image and manner in dealing with patients, families, visitors, and clinic personnel. At 1st Choice Healthcare, we embrace and practice patient-centered care and we strive to provide all of our patients with the best possible medical care. We encourage each patient to take an active role in their healthcare. We believe that in addition to helping patients when they are sick, we can and should help guide them in making healthy choices for preventive care. 1st Choice Healthcare is a non-profit, Joint Commission accredited, Federally Qualified Health Center. We welcome all members of our community, especially those unable to afford care. We are founded and governed by our community.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Have a valid Arkansas Driver's License and vehicle.
  • Must be able to travel with the use of a personal vehicle.
  • Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Must possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must possess the ability to speak effectively before groups and actively engage the general public in outreach situations.
  • Must possess the ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultural and socio-economic populations.
  • Pass a criminal background check in accordance with State and Federal rules.
  • Be able to work weekends

Responsibilities

  • Provide enrollment assistance (including but not limited to assisting consumers with completing coverage applications, gathering required documentation, and troubleshooting the enrollment process) for uninsured children and adults to access subsidized, low-cost, and free health insurance programs through the health insurance marketplace and Medicaid programs
  • Distribute outreach materials to patients, community members, partner organizations and businesses to build coverage option awareness.
  • Develop, discover, and attend community events in order to promote coverage options and the mission and services of the organization.
  • Attend and successfully complete all required training programs (as applicable and required by state/federal law) and licensure.
  • Participate in ongoing conference calls, webinars, network meeting, and other professional development opportunities to maintain expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program specifications.
