About The Position

NeighborHealth, formerly East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, is one of the largest community health centers in the country, serving the greater Boston area with a strong commitment to patient and community health. As a Community Health Worker (CHW) Trainee, you will make a profound impact on the lives of people with complex and/or chronic conditions who face barriers to accessing care. The role involves an 8-week training program where you will participate in CHW coursework and gain on-the-job skills in assigned Clinical Departments. During this trainee period, all trainees report to the Director of Workforce Development. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • BLS required at hire
  • Able to anticipate potential problems and problem-solve independently
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work with different NeighborHealth departments both independently and as a team member

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate fully in the 8-week training program by attending all in-person and zoom trainings
  • Join in all on-the-job training in various Clinical Dpts
  • Reflect NeighborHealth core values

  • Work in assigned NeighborHealth Department supporting the needs of that Department, their colleagues, and patients (if applicable)
  • Maintain excellent punctuality and attendance
  • Participate in required departmental activities

  • Use NeighborHealth devices appropriately
  • Follow established departmental policies and procedures for environmental safety and infection control
  • Perform other related duties from the clinical department as needed
