About The Position

This position will support the Cerebral Cavernous Malformation (CCM) Outreach and Education Initiative within the University of New Mexico Neurology. The coordinator will work closely with the study team and clinical providers to facilitate outreach activities, participant education, genetic testing coordination, and research-related activities focused on improving identification and evaluation of individuals at risk for CCM throughout New Mexico.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Fingerprinting, and subsequent clearance, may be required for this position depending on assignment.
  • May be required to obtain a Community Support Worker (CSW) certification within six months of hire.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate community outreach and educational activities related to CCM throughout the State of New Mexico.
  • Assist with scheduling educational presentations and outreach events with healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, advocacy groups, and community organizations.
  • Provide education and respond to questions regarding CCM, genetic testing, and available clinical and research resources.
  • Facilitate participant recruitment, informed consent, and study procedures for CCM-related research initiatives.
  • Coordinate collection, processing, tracking, and shipment of buccal swab specimens for genetic analysis.
  • Maintain accurate participant records, research databases, and CCM registry information in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with collection and documentation of demographic, clinical, and family history information for research participants.
  • Support communication of research results and coordination of referrals to the UNM CCM Neurology Clinic, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with study personnel to support regulatory compliance, study documentation, and reporting activities.
  • Assist with participant check-in, coordination of study visits, and other research support activities as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
